Bakersfield Mobile RV Repair is an independently operated mobile service covering Bakersfield and Kern County. We repair the house side of RVs, roofs and sealant, rooftop ACs, slide-outs, plumbing, water heaters, furnaces, generators, fiberglass, and 12V electrical, at the rig, wherever it is parked.

Why we work the way we do

Kern County is a big, spread-out place: 8,163 square miles running from farmland and oilfield on the valley floor to the Sierra Nevada in the east and the Mojave Desert beyond. An RV owner here is not necessarily near a dealer, and the dealers that do serve this region book out weeks. Meanwhile the rig that needs help is often exactly where it is hardest to move: settled into a storage lot, parked on gravel behind a farmhouse, or set up at a campsite on the Kern River.

Mobile repair is the answer to that mismatch, but the mobile-tech market has its own problems: no published prices, quotes that appear before anyone has metered anything, and vague claims about licenses and authorizations that do not hold up. We built this service around fixing those specifically.

Published prices. Trip fee $75 to $150 in the local area. Labor $125 to $190/hr, one-hour minimum, parts and tax additional. Typical job ranges for every common repair are listed on the pricing page, before you call, not after.

Diagnosis before quote. The tech tests, meters, and inspects before naming a number. A water heater that will not light gets its thermocouple and burner tube checked before anyone mentions replacement. A rooftop AC that hums gets a capacitor test before anyone quotes a new unit. You approve the price before work starts, every time, no exceptions.

Honesty about what we are. Independent means not a dealer and not factory-authorized. We cannot perform manufacturer warranty work, and we will say so up front. If your component is still under warranty, check with the manufacturer first: some reimburse independent repairs, many do not, and you deserve to know which before spending money. We also do not touch engine, transmission, or chassis work; that belongs at a truck shop, and pretending otherwise wastes your trip fee.

Honesty about “licensed.” California’s Automotive Repair Act, administered by the state Bureau of Automotive Repair, requires an automotive repair dealer registration for businesses that repair or diagnose “motor vehicles” for compensation, and the Vehicle Code’s definition of a passenger vehicle, which the Act relies on, explicitly includes a “housecar,” meaning a self-propelled motorhome. What neither the statute nor BAR’s own guidance spells out is how that applies to RV living-quarters work specifically, roof, AC, slides, plumbing, appliances, as opposed to chassis and engine work, so we are not going to guess at a conclusion the state has not published. Ask any mobile tech directly whether their business carries that registration, along with proof of insurance and training such as RVTI. We are straightforward about our own standing rather than letting the word “licensed” do vague work in an ad.

Who does the work

Repairs are performed by experienced, insured mobile RV technicians who work these systems daily: the same lap sealant, water heaters, Dometic and Coleman rooftop units, Norcold and Dometic absorption fridges, Lippert slide mechanisms, and 12V converter setups found in rigs across Kern County. The truck stocks the parts that close most calls in one visit: fuses, sealant, capacitors, anode rods, water pumps, thermocouples.

We also know how to work where Kern County RVs actually sit: driveways in Rosedale and Oildale, acreage and farm lots around Shafter, storage yards, and campgrounds up in Tehachapi and the Kern River Valley. Campground and county-park access rules, narrow mountain roads, and gate hours all factor into how we schedule a visit.

The honest reality of demand here

We will not manufacture urgency the way an ad for a snowbird market might. Kern County is a year-round RV owner market: rigs used for weekend and vacation trips to the coast, the Sierra, and the Kern River Valley, then parked between trips. Demand does have a real shape: it climbs through the hot months as AC units and batteries get pushed hardest, and it climbs again before major holiday travel weekends when owners pull a rig out of storage and find out what did not survive sitting. If your job can wait for a slower week, we will tell you that. If your AC just quit on a 108-degree afternoon with people inside the rig, we will tell you that too, and move you up the list.
