Roof condition. Bakersfield’s sun is the wildcard. Lap sealant that is merely cracked is a straightforward reseal. Sealant that failed a year or two ago may hide soft decking underneath after a wet winter, and wood-rot repair is a different job at a different price. The city’s official July normal high is 98.3 degrees, and it broke its own record for consecutive 105-degree-plus days in July 2024 (eleven days straight), which is exactly the kind of sustained heat that finishes off sealant that was already marginal. Slide-out damage depth. A slide that stopped because the motor died is a motor swap. A slide that has been forced, racked out of sync, or run with a chewed gear is a mechanism rebuild. The gap between those is why our published range is wide, and why diagnosing first matters.

Access. A rig in a driveway with full hookups is the easy case. A unit wedged in a storage row with no shore power means bringing power and more setup. A campsite up a narrow mountain road, like the county park above Tehachapi where RVs are capped at 28 feet because of the grades and hairpin turns, can add time before the tech even opens a panel.

Season. Late spring and summer are our busiest stretch: air conditioners and battery banks get pushed hardest, and pre-trip checkouts cluster before major holiday travel weekends. Prices do not change, but lead times do. If your job is flexible (a preventive reseal, a pre-season checkout), fall and winter get you the fastest scheduling of the year, tule fog and short daylight aside.

How the quote works, start to finish

1. You call or send the form with year, make, model, symptom, and location: address, storage lot and space number, or campground and site number.
2. We give you the trip fee up front based on where the rig sits.
3. The tech diagnoses on site: tests, meters, inspects. No quoting off a phone description.
4. You get one number in writing: trip fee, labor estimate, parts. Repair-vs-replace laid out straight when both are options.
5. You approve, we work. If a special-order part changes the plan mid-job, work stops and you approve the new number first.

A note on warranty and insurance work

We are independent (not a dealer, not factory-authorized) so we cannot perform manufacturer warranty repairs. If your component is under warranty, check with the manufacturer before paying anyone; some reimburse independent repairs, many do not.
